I said before in other posts: I could upgrade my laptop (which will already beat the M1 in performance) to 3TB M.2 storage, and 64GB RAM, for less than a 1TB / 16GB MBP M1. This will thrash any M1 machine, and it's far cheaper than the MacBooks with anything like comparable specs.

I just ordered a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop, with a Ryzen 5800H and Nvidia 3070 8GB, 16GB RAM (I am going to upgrade this to 64GB myself) and 1TB storage (with a second empty M.2 slot).
They are comparing one Mac against a very overpriced laptop - One of hundreds on the market. Just because no other maker has that kind of history, conning people into paying high prices. It is sort of buying any Leica camera Oh it will be beautifully hand crafted that only cost four time as much.

I am sure your Mac would be beautifully crafted and and be as light as a balsa wood box, but it won't do anything to improve your chance to win prizes any better than you are with a decent Brand-X Windows 10 PC. You, as customers really don't have a choice when you want a computer that can make your photography hobby lives easier. It is more like Mac vs other Mac in Apple OS world because of their monopoly computer architect there is no third party computer maker in the Mac world! You, as customers are screwed in a sense of letting Apple charges you what Apple seems fair to pay for their product developments.
